Döbling is the 19 ^th district of Vienna. It is known as a wine district because there are many local wineries selling unique wines. Grinzing is a town in Döbling, also known as a wine village. We made two trips to Döbling.

Vienna Woods - Wienerwald

On our first trip we were exploring Khalenberg. Khalenberg is a 500 m hill with a fantastic view of the city from the top. We took a tram and bus to Khalenberg in about 30 minutes from Karlsplatz in the 1 ^st district. We hiked through the Vienna woods to the summit of the hill in about 1 hour. At the summit we stopped at a small cafe to enjoy some food and drinks for respite. We then went down the mountain to our bus station for the return journey. On our way we made friends with others. It was a great trip for a day as an outing for friends. We all had a great time exploring Khalenberg.

Karl Marx-hof

On our second trip, we explored the more urban parts of Döbling. We saw the Karl Marx Court, which is the largest apartment complex in Vienna, almost a kilometer long, and continues down Grinzinger Street. We visited on a Monday night so most facilities were closed, but we got to see a lot of the area. We ended our dinner at a restaurant named Figls. We enjoyed the food and the service. The restaurant was clean, well-staffed, a bit expensive, but had great service. We want to return to Döbling to try more of the wines and participate in a sparkling wine tour Schlumberger. Aside from the wine, and the hikes. Dobling is an urban center of living for the Viennese. There are many nice parks and restaurants. Otherwise it was pretty quiet.
